Do these backlink websites help at all? [link] + more SEO questions

I'm trying to build up backlinks for my site and I was wondering if these types of websites are legitemate, and are actually trying to help. See here:

Is it actually helping? Supposedly it puts the best backlinks on the top, and the worst on the bottom.
Only problem is I have a 50% return rate on my niche/keyword :/
My other SEO questions:
1. I know that dofollow > nofollow, but I seem to have trouble finding dofollow blogs. Is there a website that can locate it for me, or a software, like Comment Kahuna?
2. In terms of building up backlinks, should I build up a set amount every day? I see people telling others to write 10 backlinks a day, but to me, that seems a little excessive. Should it be rigorous like that, or what?
3. Do directories help at all for backlinks? To me it seems like it's simply a giant link farm.
4. Do websites like blogcatalog.com and top.org etc help you? I know those have dofollow but I found like 10 of these styles of websites, so I put the small banner codes at the bottom. Is this bad, or will it hurt my blog?
5. Is it true that Wordpress is SEO optimized?
6. Which is better google analytics, or the built in stat counter for wordpress? Also how often do the google analytics update?

Backlink is a backlinks, whatever form or nature it is of
Dofollow nofollow, dont waste your time on that, build up whatever is possible
Setting a cap of backlinks is good if your website is very new (say just one month old), but if they are old websites then go and get as many as you can (not that get 10k backlinks in a day)
Directories do help when you are starting out, in the long run dont bother much about them
Yes all backlinks which are from huge authority sites can help, whether dofollow or nofollow, rather one should have nofollow backlinks too, it helps in evading suspicion from search engines about forced linkbuilding
Wordpress is not just out of the box SEO optimized, it is to an extent though, but you need to have a grasp of things there or use one of those plugins which can make it SEO optimized
For site analysis, use google analytics or any other web counters available (one is strongly recommend is getclicky, paid one but very good)
