Let me explain for example u add an article to a pr8 website like that: "whatever whatever whatever hxxp://www.mywebsite.com (tt instead of xx of course lol but without hyperlink) whatever whatever whatever whatever... do these sample "links" with no real links count for something ?
That one letter mispelling in the word, "buy", really threw me off actually, but now I realize you mean "but". I've actually wondered this too; in fact, I've counted on hoping that it works. I would also like to know for sure if Google counts that your website is mentioned, but isn't hyperlinked.
If it's not a live link - either an URL or an anchor text (clickable) - it doesn't count as backlink.
sorry kaabi my fault lol, fixed now, how can u be sure Monty? anyone here on dp have any experience with this please? (i think only google know) but i hope it work because i just found a way to add as many text links as i want (without hyperlink) to a pr7 website legaly.
It doesn't count as a link because it's not a link. It's just plain text. As plain text, it would help that page be found whenever somebody searched for that url though.
I would tend to agree, bots wont see that as a link and therefore it wont count as a backlink. However they might assign some weighting to text urls, hard to tell.
So are you saying that if a company name (mydomain) is mentioned in a high profile article, Google doesn't count or consider it. I always hoped Google would!
This is a bot, it doesn't "understand" text, it follows links. If it's not a link, it's not a backlink. Googlebot doesn't read papers either. Have your name mentioned on NYT's first page, Google will not care
Cool thanks for the explanation. If my name gets to NYT's front page, I probably won't worry about Google anymore.
