Is Google catching on to this method of SEO in anyway? My site is not doing any better with hundreds of links from one website 6 months later, could the links be from a bad source?
If google "catches on" to text links how on earth are they going to rank sites? Links are the basis of the web. If you are relying on hundreds of links from one website then I am 100% sure your site will still be doing badly in 5 years time. You need good quality links to get good rankings. Hundred of poor links has no effect at all. 100,000 poor links on the other hand will have an effect.
Links are the foundation of the web. So yes, they've "caught on" since they developed the Google search engine. So let me get this straight: You have hundreds of links coming from ONE SITE? No, that won't help you get better rankings. If you have hundreds of links from HUNDREDS OF SITES, that's a different story.
As mentioned, links are crucial to search engine rankings, but hundreds of links from one site isn't a well rounded linking strategy. Links from hundreds of sites does not guarantee top performance either. The quality and relevancy of the backlinks are crucial, as well as your anchor text and the competition for that particular keyphrase. As far as Google is concerned, when I target a new keyphrase and get my backlinks, I usually see the effects within 3-5 weeks. I'd say your linking strategy needs some work.
I currently buy about 250 links from over 5 or so websites owned by the same person, most between PR5 to PR2. I have done this for years, but recently my site has dropped in ranking? With some new high quality links can I expect to rank better in 5 weeks? Also is buying from http://www.text-link-ads.com/ and what should I look out for? Thanks.
Definitely mix it up. 5 sites is not enough. They're probably on the same IP too, so that's not too great either. You could get better rankings in 5 weeks sure, but you need to diversify your linking methods. www.Text-Link-Ads.com is good. Buying links here in the Link Sales Forum is good method too. Contacting sites listed in DMOZ is another great way. Article submissions, blog commenting, blog advertising ( www.payperpost.com ), etc... the list goes on. Just diversify. Don't do one method. An unnatural link strategy is using one method. A natural link method is using every tactic out there to get links, which results in great rankings.
if u have revelant links in msn and yahoo u get good results, but for google u need high PR ,revelant links
If you are serious about buying your way to the top then you need to buy every single relevant link available. Otherwise start linkbaiting.
I think Google has caught on and has reduced the level of importance that text links play in their algorithm. I then think they have increased the weighting factor of surrounding text. I have seen some very interesting results recently when searching for something very obscure where they may only be 2-3 results none of which actually contain the text in question and are influenced by surrounding text on inbound link pages.
Th only way that links work are if they come from many different sites. The way that those links are weighted depend on many factors like the quality of the site and the amount of links comming from different sites. There is also a difference if the links are reciprical or one way. Thanks, George Christodoulou
Having your sites link on one site 50 or more times on a number of sites could also be damaging. I would say that it is best to have your sites link only a few times per site on quite a few sites to get more benefit from it.
