Do Text Ad CTR Effect Banner Ad Ratings in Adwords?

    Question for Adwords Experts. :D

Does a low Text Ad CTR in the same ad group as a High Banner Ad CTR negatively effect Google's magical rating for the adgroup?

    Another way of putting it:
If I have a 1% CTR on my text ad and a 5% CTR on my banner ad, am I better off using both Text and Banner ads or am I better off just using the banner ad so that my ad group will receive a higher score?

(If you can, please answer both questions even though they are similar)

I assume your talking about two different networks..the text ad would be in the search network(although you can do text ads in content as well), and the banner ad would be in the content network.

If that is the case, your ctr in one would not effect your QS in the other..

It is best practice, as people in here can attest to, to seperate your search and content campaigns into different campaigns though

Rightly said by Fletch, your search and content campaigns should be different to start with. If you set it up that way they don't impact each other.

    Thank you Fletch & rkweb1,

I do seperate my search and content network campaigns. However what I was talking about is text vs banners in the content network campaigns. Banners obviously have a higher CTR but receive less impressions than text ads.

What I've done is made 2 adgroups to test it out. (still testing...)

CTR on content n/w is not a big deal. CTRs below 1% are also good for content n/w.
I wouldnt worry about it too much on content n/w.

Always keep the campaigns separate and you wont have a problem.

One useful input from me. Google needs to present the most relevant ads to the users at all time. If the Ads are relevant the chances for someone to click on it (Google profits on this) the more chances is in it for you to get relevant and good clicks. There are primarily three factors to consider: 1. Relevance. 2. Historical CTR (popularity) over time. 3. Cost. Most important is Relevance. Then comes the Ad history and at last cost. Cost is the less important factor.

SEO and a good keyword research can save your Google Adword advertising budget for BIG bucks! Your result is that your Adword ads is making you better search engine rankings (paid) on the same keywords.
