Do Tag Posts Result in Duplicate Content Hurting SEO?

    Hi,

I have a wordpress blog and the first 100 posts or so I went crazy with the tags adding 10+ on each post not really knowing what I was doing.
I am concerned that all these tags are going to create duplicate content and hurt my website from searching.
It is searching well for the time being. I want to ensure that it stays this way.
I recently updated my robots.txt to block the tag pages from being indexed but they were not being blocked for the first 100 posts and many of the tag pages were indexed as evidenced by my analytics.

Should I be concerned that these tag posts are going to result in duplicate content and hurt my website from searching as well as it is now?
Should I do something about these tags? Removal of them will result in 404 errors which is also bad? Would 301 directing do anything?

Any help / advice on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Joe Mayo

Use only "two to three tags" which is important related to that topic because each tag create different dynamic URL but in the eyes of google bot it will consider as a duplicate content. To remove duplication, use canonical wordpress plugin which is pointing to main URL. thanks
