Hiya, One of my sites has static, very targeted content, showing presentations on a particular topic. There is only a finite amount of content on it, it's not a blog, and it doesn't change much, since the information doesn't need to change, other than possible user comments. Does that make a big hit on the way Google ranks the site, compared with a blog or news site which uploads content regularly?
It depends. If you are heavily promoting your site with good backlinks then it shouldn't make too much difference. However google does like new content being added as it values those sites. Like you i have a mixture of static and dynamic sites and both seem to do well. Have you considered adding a blog to your site and just creating a new post each week?
I think without adding more content, your chances of ranking good these days in google are very little. All you can do is build bakclinks, yes they will help but adding new content is very important these days.
I've got a few static sites that continue to rank well for extremely competitive keywords and I haven't touched them or added any links to them for months. So there's no reason why they shouldn't rank well, but I would always recommend that you continue to build links regularly.
I have a couple of fairly static websites that continue to rank very well for their keywords. However, while the pages do not change much or often, I do continue to add relevant backlinks on a fairly regular basis.
I have both types and i think it depends: just think about it if you have static site that never changes and its still getting backlinks regulary, so google will think that the content is great and there is no need to add a new content. Just my 2 cents
static sites-just great!!! but nowadays site are made dynamic or web3 where user interaction is more 'n more..
