Do Spam Links Work on Google?

I've been looking around for proper white hat seo people who actually negotiate links offering quality researched articles or other services in exchange, but all I've seen are people offering spam (and there are way too many of them here as well in the "services" section).

I came across a guy who thinks he's an "seo guru" offering me links like this:

Call me a noob SEOer but I don't think these pages would count...so I told him Im not interested in spam

He then says to me:
"Haaahaaaa. Ok buddy how about a challenge then? I love people who swear by these so-called SEO guru's and live by a ton of he say, she say instead of real life test results. I challenge you my friend and I guarantee you that my so-called spam based campaigns will beat the crap outta of your crystal clean campaigns. Let me know if you're up for it "

Now honestly...(dont have to admit you've done it ) but have seen results with this type of work?

Im starting to see way too many spammy blogs, comments, profile links, resource pages with 100 irrelevant links, etc...why would people offer these spam services if they dont work?

Thoughts?

 

I have been experimenting all types of link building methods for years and I have seen Google evolve/adapt to counter many of them. I have done all kind of spamming to see how it would make certain website interact with the SERP.

Well it all depends. first we need to define "spam links".

And I am guessing you mean you want to do SEO on one of your websites and you are wondering whether you should spam links?

 

google is hate spam link, but it all about your lucky..

spam links are usually associated with low quality but they are still links that are going to your site. so they still have some value. non spam links are usually high pr, are relevant to your niche and are harder to get. 1 high pr link is better than 100 no pr links, or 1 medium pr relevant link is usually better than 1 high pr non relevant link.

so basically if you get 10k low pr links, they will still help you gain in serp. If you get 500 high pr links you will probably get the same result.

i gain very good serp with low quality links.

They do work. Just look at the amount of garbage sites being shown high in serps. Now how long will they work is anyones guess. But considering that Google is only interested in giving us just good enough serps and making tons of cash from ads, it is safe to assume some sort of spam links will always be tolerated.

 

A link is a link for most of us. Quality sites don't link out for the asking. So this leaves us few options and the only difference between one link and another is how long the link lasts. This is not complicated stuff.

I disagree with croangler's take on PR. Some of the worst sites to use are high PR sites. Their links are expensive and buying links from them could turn out to be a very expensive mistake. What you want are sites where there is a purpose other than selling you links. But in the interim there is nothing wrong with the free directory list if you are prepared to keep topping up.

I'm pretty sure that those spammy links work. It is only anecdotal, but one of my main competitors uses those all over the place and they dominate our Google market.

 

It's spam links, forget it!

 

I concur, that is essentially a content farm. Dimwits get a bunch of dropped domains and run services to post spun crap on their entire network. At the end of the day its a real mess.

I think as more low quality sites appear eventually google is going to rely on more human involvement in determining quality and relevency of content. The bounce rate of a site can also tell you if it is any good. Visitors will leave rubbish sites quickly. Google will keep trying to counteract spam so in the long run its best to create good quality content.

 

Perhaps, spam links still work in GOOGLE since even the related link can be called as spam depends on the person who does it.

In my opinion I'd much rather get 5 high pr links than 500 low pr non relevant backlinks. If some people want to know real seo take a look at some of Nigel lew's posts he has some very useful posts, bound to help anyone that wants to know REAL seo instead of all the spammy backlinks

 

What is spammy? What is not? Would you buy a high PR link rather than submitting your site to a free directory? Why?

The way it has been explained to me is that sites that have genuinely high PR are those sites that won't give you a link even if you do offer to pay for it. Secondly that it is the factors that earn the the site their genuinely high PR, such as mature domain, useful content etc, that also give you a boost in the serp's. The bottom line is stay away from PR. It's a bad sign. Smacks of dishonesty and a hard sell. Rather look at the purpose of the site and ask yourself whether it is going to last and why they are offering you a link. Get in early while you still can and hope like hell that your link grows with the site.

Just as real as the fact that your competitor will employ someone to analyse what you have done to attain your ranking and shop you to Google. Dumb. The distinction between Black Hat and White Hat is a misnomer. Rather call it short term and long term strategies.

 

It's best that you love your site first and then link to community or forum with same interest as your site and basically just have fun. Forget about buying links you better do it yourself to make sure your site gets the quality links it deserves.
