Yes forum signatures help in backlink count. The condition is that the forums should allow do-follow signatures, as do-follow links are considered as back links.
Pff, I agree with you partially. .gov and .edu sites have no authority over others, some rank highly due to the huge age of the site, the amount of uptime, the amount of conent and the amount of inbound links..(and many other factors) agreed (I didn’t say otherwise). Whether its .gov .edu .studipdo is irrelevant, and I never said it wasn’t However, all of the links that SEOers can get that are also available to Spammers will in time be devalued. - If both spammers and SEOs could get uni links and gov links then they too would be devalued in time (if the general trend to 'fake' your way to the top was to use these, which is very unlikely) (in a LOST commentary voice over->) Previously on ..this thread:
Backlinking using forum signatures is one of the main method i am using to gain traffic to my blog. But not all the forums are dofollow and that won't help you to increase the PR but nevertheless it will generate traffic.
Forum links are only for trading of services between members. Although Google devalues everything, I think their right to stop this type of link as it isn't a proper link, it's kind of different to a normal web link. Normal weblink - links to related sites - Correct Forum link - mostly untargeted eg: on every page - Bad linking Because forums generate auto pages, signature links are on every page created. Thus, it's an effortless link and should carry less weight because of the untargeting that goes with it. Forum member has a site on brown widgits, but brown widgit forum categories aren't avaiable, so the link ends up on other untargeted pages. Good links should be fairly difficult to obtain as standard. A website must be of a high standard to be worthy of a mention on other good sites. In anycase, a link signature could be spam, a member might make a ton of useless posts so they get their link on as many pages as possible. Google may be thinking like that, and so devalues them.
A combination of this forum and various other link building techniques like commenting will bring you good link development.
I am happy to now discover that commenting on other relevant blogs in my niche market will help me alot to build my backlinks on the search engine.
my site is only 2 months old and is already doing very well on several search terms. but I do lack backlinks. Its a webdesign and graphics site so any suggestions for me about creating backlinks would be greatly appreciated.
I don't think it is that useful for PR.The forums linking pages are commonly PR0 as well as too many OBLs. Well it can help backlinks and keywords ranking. And it is convenient for SEOers to build links for new sites. Just change the Signatures, then the total hundreds backlinks change. If have 1000 posts on forums, then have 1000 links resource under control.Main point is steady resource, not the quality.
Go through the thread below - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1090790 this may help you out.
I think that is a bit misleading. If I post a link in this thread, it'll count as much as it always has, and that will likely never change... though I think that signatures can and will be shot down, if they are not already. They are not all that had to tell at any rate... How hard would it be to dim the value of a any links followed by a __________________ that can all be seen and reseen (made up word) a hundred or a thousand times on a site. The sheer repition of a sig link should already be devaluing itself... On the other hand, look at my sig. Now google the automotive terms for those links. Pretty good SERP no? *shrug* At least for now sig liks seem to be working just right
yes, forums in signature is the best way and also improve website backlink, PR and ranking. this is the very helpful
If someone is desired to promote SERP of his/her site then i think they should need to register with some of the forums relevant to the theme of the site and one must do posting in the threads which are related to his sites theme or keyword should be related to that particular post. And if some one wanna to post some of the other threads besides then just exclude the signatures from the post while posting in off topic thread.. I am sure that with considering this strategy will definitely help you in gain high search engine ranking with the particular keywords.
yes forum posting will help you for sure.. but you must take part in relevant forums...like if you want to promote wedding website then you should not put signature here.. its better to go to wedding forums and put signature there... thats the way you get relevant traffic.
I'm not certain but I think Back links from forums dont give good page rank because forum pages dont often have good page rank. The forum front page may have a good page rank, but the page with in the Forum that you have posted on (ie this one) will have a low or 0 page rank. From the checks I just did I get this page at page rank 0 although the forums front page comes up as page rank 6.
I guess pages within a forum that have alot of relevant in bound links and information relative to those links might still get a good page rank?? but I think the crawler bot treats forum pages differently to other pages....though i may be wrong.
You are right .. Most of the forums have good PR on home page and for inner threads the PR is almost 0. To verify this more clearly i checked 1026 days old thread in DP ( almost 32 months ) it has PR 1 thread link is at - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=45245 Any better solution for this
