I believe it helps, but not sure to what extent. DP is quite good, because it shows the signature even without having to log in, which allows the crawlers to see the signatures. Some forums do not show signatures without logging in.
I dont think they count for much, but they are useful for new sites (so you can get them spidered quickly by search engines)
