do sig links pass PR?

I was thinking if my post featured in high PR post of any forum whose sig links are dofollow. Will it pass any PR?? Because i have seen most people using the post to include their link. Can it be done with sig links in case the links in posts are nofollowed??

Yes it would pass PR, but unless the pages are relevant to your site it will have little SEO benefit.

It may count a small amount as most pages would have very little PR to pass. Almost every link has the potential to help.

Signature links may help if it is do follow. But you may get lot of potential traffic from signature links. After all we all are looking for traffic.

you can check if a link is do follow by using firefox... Simply select the link by wanding over it(left click) as you would make any other sort of selection, then right click it and select view selection source. It will either say no follow or nothing. If you don't see no follow its a do follow link.

    Hope that helps,
    Nigel

You just need to chck whether it is Dofollow. If yes, then it will PASS the PR.
If it is nofollow, then the answer will be NO

Don't care about PR atm. Signature links (Whether no follow or do follow) is very useful to get links with good anchor text. If you are a frequent poster in that particular forum, you will be able to gather a lot of links. But certainly quality backlinks counts more..

Since there are so many links on the page it will pass very little pr, but it gets you some traffic and the anchor text is always good for serps

Some forum sig links will pass PR and some won't. It depends if they have the rel="nofollow" attribute. The ones that have the attribute will not pass PR.

In general (from my experience) sig links aren't a great way of obtaining PR or rankings. Usually each page on a forum with sig links that pass PR has a massive amount of external links - this means that your signature link will get a very small amount of the PR juice (because it's divided amongst many links).

Also - watch out if you plan to purchase too many sig links - they can hurt you badly (again, from my experience). I purchased a ton of sig links and 1 week after the site that I purchased them for vanished from Google. After about 3 months of not ranking for anything I took the sig links off and filed a reconsideration request. 2 weeks later my site was ranking again.

I can flat out tell you that I think they're worthless as means of SEO. However, they could be good for hiding your link building tactics when someone looks up your backlinks =).

Anyway - I'm not an SEO guru or anything like that, nor do I imply that I am. I'm just typing out of my previous experience with sig links (which wasn't a good one).

Thanks for taking the time to read my 2 cents...

Sig links are good for link building but if you look at the pages they are on, they all don't have page rank assigned.

If this is so, then how does it pass PR?

Problem with sig links is in most cases there are so many replies with people who have several links in there sig the PR juice has to get shared with every link on the page. The more links, the less "juice" there is to go around. For achieving a higher PR (I can care less about PR, means nothing anymore) you will want to look for other methods besides sig links. Sig links in my opinion will bring in more quality traffic if you are posting on blogs that pertain to what your site talks about. Relying on them just for PR will not get you very far.
