Do Search Engines Understand Similes

What I mean is if two words mean same things will a site show for both.

an example

I want a page to show for

Moving to Holland

I want my page to come up if people type in
Moving to Holland or
Moving to Netherlands

do I need to put both of these key phrases in a page or will google AI understand that I want results for both

hope I have explained this correctly

another example is Colombia and Columbia

I think google does not understand but baidu yes!

 

You will need backlinks with link anchor text using both keyword phrases. Google is not smart enough to relate two different phrases to each other.

 

Google is pretty smart but you better have content + backlinks related to both keywords.

You need to have both words on the page at least once and preferably more than once. Same with anchor text from other pages on the site and external links if possible.
