Do search engines like subdomains or domains?

    search engines need high quality pages .......thats it...if the sub domain had quality contents than the domain then search engine will give importance to sub domians

    Sub domains are treated as separate sites altogether. What that means is they can rank just as well as a regular top level domain but they need the links, the authority, and all the other factors that goes into ranking high. Most businesses/sites use sub folders over sub domains because the PR flow extends to the folders.

    It doesnt matter if its your own domain or its sub domain as long as you have the quality contents on both site and you create backlinks for it search engine will surely love your site

    Very simple answer to this. Just see how many about.com or howstuffworks.com sub domains you see when you search for something on Google. Do you still think sub domains come up less in number?

    Google Consider Both the Same (when it comes to ranking).

    But google also Dont transfer any Authority of your main Domain To your Sub Domain.
