Do sites with a high percentage of daily repeat visitors have lower CTR? Do repeat visitors click on ads on every visit? Is ad blindness a bigger problem on these sites?
Depends wether an ad for them would be interesting to click. As for ad blindness, I don't think it's a problem for experienced web pubs.
I would say yes, especially if your advertisers mix up their ad enough. AdSense is so quick to provide me with top quality ads that are specific to my niche topics, it shocks me sometimes. I am blown away by how well the ads flow with 90% of my content.
My latest site has had the opposit effect. When it first gained momentum I had like a .2%-.4% ctr on my ads. Now that more then half the traffic is repeat visitors, I'm in the 1.5%-2% range.
My link units seem to be the most popular for my repeat visitors -- the link units offer just enough information to get a person to click in, and once they are in the Google portion, they usually click out before clicking Back.
as always "it depends" but for me no repeat visitors rarely click on ads, they develop blindness try changing layout every so often
Since I started tracking my clicks with Google Anaytics, I've learned that my repeat visitors are about 50% more likely to click my ads than new visitors. That may have to do with the fact that some of my search engine traffic isn't entirely well-targeted. Repeat visitors are more guaranteed to be interested in my niche and the corresponding ads.
my CTR has been steadily climbing. I get a lot of repeat visitors on my site. So far I've topped out at 0.50% CTR with 65,000+ page impressions (not visitors).
CTR of 100% means all of your visitors clicked an ad on your site. So if you have traffic of 100 visitors a day and all 100 visitors click an ad on your site, your CTR (Click Through Rate) is 100%. That's perfect and you should see a nice pay check.
