do relaxing sites do better?

Are sites with cozy feeling or nerve stretching ones better in click rate?
(if everything else is the same).

Does some exotic background or exotic background music help?

How about using cute things like bugsbunny? Or a moving thing which people may want to catch and stop with their mouses, and which enters from one side of adsense, and exits from the other side.

    :D

I usually hit back right when I hear music. It bothers me for some reason.

    Probably against the TOS.

Every person has a different taste.

I work on the internet for 12-14 hrs a day. For me the best site is a white page with black text. I prefer a site where I can quickly find what am I am looking for , to a "good looking" site.

What about happy endings? Do they lead to more or less clicks?

When I here music on a site (unless I'm expecting it) I normally think which bloody advert is generating that. To avoid me hitting the back button, the site absolutely must have something I want. I put up with the annoying music making ads on ebay because when I'm there I'm looking for something specific.
As for things moving on the page, just about the only time I want to see a page move is when I'm scrolling it or watching a presentation.

relaxing designs for the 'general majority' are better but like everything else it all depends on your target audience.

if you gonna add music do it so it does not auto start, do it so the visiter can hit play / stop when they wanna listen.

Music is annoying, moving things are annoying... It will also take the attention of the users from the ads...

It depends on your target market.

I agree though about the music. I don't think that helps anybody. Voice over could work in some situations.

Many people surf at work and if they hit a site with any kind of sound auto playing they are out of there ASAP.
