Do reciprocal links have a negative effect? Even if they are "no follow" and relevant?

What consequences does this have on PageRank?

I thought that having a mixture of "do follow" and "no follow" links was good for creating a natural looking link profile?

Yep a mix of both definitely helps and also keeps your domain/site off the sandbox

I have to ask the obvious question, why would you get recip nofollow links?

The only negative point is if they are no follow since they can't be indexed. Hence won't benefit in search engine ranking.

I think nofollow is completely different to noindex. Just because a link is nofollow doesn't mean it won't be indexed.

No follow or Do follow, a backlink is a backlink, go get it in my opinion, it cannot harm you in any way, even if it cannot help, and if it is available in the exact same niche as yours even a no follow backlink can help

I have some thing to share an expert advice on no-follow and do-follow linking
Matt Cutts of Google has provided advice about PageRank and the no-follow attribute. If you are considering changing your links from no-follow to do-follow, please check the video below to be helpful.
