So far, only 5 donation received. :) Eventhough it is not a big amount, but as they, a dollar can actually help others. Thanks to those who donate.

There are some people out there who donate regularly to sites they find useful!
However, none of them has yet landed up at my sites yet! ;)

An don't anyone dare questioning the usefulness of my sites :D

What I've discovered that it really depends on the niche of a given site. If the primary audience has any disposable income and they feel your content is valuable enough, they may donate. On the flipside however; if your content is targeted to tweens/kids, and teens -- you may not see as many, or any donations.

I've gotten 3 or 4, i have a classifieds section on one of my forums and a couple of the sellers donate 5 or 10% of the price, even though there are no fees to list stuff, so that works out well.

A lot of times, it really isn't worth the ad space to have a PayPal donation button installed on your blog or website, what have you. I have had one in the past, and got a few small donations of $5 or less.

If you feel that this small donation process is worth the hassle, then by all means go for it :D

Nah, donations aren't even worth it. You might get luckily once in a great while, but it ain't steady income to pay for your hosting. If your site has tons of good info, maybe offer rehosting services for those people who love & trust your content, but just ain't ready to go at it 100% alone.

I did this for friend. She needed a website, I needed a website. I created a reseller account for $30 bucks a month. Gave her a website with it's own IP for $10s a month and offered email support. Next thing someone else needed a site and so I made the same deal. Doesn't take much, you just a few small business that get no traffic to order a very basic plan. Next thing you know, your not only having them pay for your hosting, but your netting a small profit.

dont think that you can put a donation box on a empty page and you'll get funds....nope.
only quality sites get donations that too rarely......the only sites that get donation (good amount of it) are CHARITY sites....

I've never even cosidered this as I thought it was a non-starter but looking at this thread may make me reconsider. I'll wait til I have a little more content first.
