I've not seen this questions brought up here, so I'm asking... I submitted mysite to DMOZ back in September, a few days (I think) before everything fell apart. The category I submitted too has been updated, but my page was not added. Now I'm unsure if I need to wait longer, or resubmit. Generally I know the answer is "submit once, and ONLY once" but I fear my site was lost in the bustle... is there any way to tell, any official word, anything? And I many people will say "it's just one link" but I honestly do not believe that...as one dmoz link is MANY links (google directory, alexa, etc, etc etc etc etc) so I really would like to see my site added. I'd even become an editor if I knew it would help...I enjoy finding new sites in my niche anyway, so such a thing would be a win/win as far as I can see...though sadly, they are not accepting new editors). Anyway, back to my initial question.... Are there lost submissions that needed to be resent, and if so, what are the time frames for such things? Thanks, Q
Hey whats up, Its been about a good 4 months since you last submitted with no response...from what I heard it should be safe to submit again. Theres actually been a couple of debates about the true value of DMOZ eversince Google enforced the duplicate content filters. I still believe that DMOZ clone links will give value to your site, but like some say theres no evidence just yet. I realized a lot of webmasters still think like this. They see DMOZ and they know it provides clone links as well, making them believe that it will increase your inlinks and your SERP's. But then there are some that strongly agree (ministrel) that the duplicate content filters will give no extra juice to those links.
According to the guidelines there it's submit once & only once...though I'm wondering if this is a special case, or if the same applies. I'd hate to submit a second time and have both rejected because it was in queue someplace & I acted early. _-¯-_-¯-_-¯-_-¯-_-¯-_-¯-_ The "duplicate" content may be excluded from the likes of google (which I think is funny, because the google directory should, by design, be blocking itself) but not getting listed in Dmoz means not getting listed in the places with the duplicates... like, I'm losing placement in Alexa, and I'm not shown in the google directory...and most importantly, I'm not listed in what is reportedly the largest directory, DMOZ itself. Back on topic - resubmit. It has been suggested that the existing unreviewed pool was lost. A second submission will not likely result in a ban, and if you submit to the same category it should overwite any existing submssion.
