Do people look for PR before they pay ???

I run a niche directory, where my directory uses general directory structure like /Computers/Internet/. My directory at present PR 5. The problem here with the directory is my PR gets reduced by 1 for each inner directory, ultimately goes to PR0 to deeper ones.

I am expecting paid submissions, which is not happening for me. Do people check for PR in the category they submit.

Does changing the directory structure into filenames like <dir9333.htm> would keep the PR intact? Does PR convince people to pay ???

What are your solutions, so that i could get some paid submissions?
    Please help.

Allow submissions on the pages with PR3,2, ect.

    Lower your prices maybe.

I think PR means more to us directory and search engine owners than it does anyone else. Regular everyday site owners are more interested in being seen. A niche directory gives that site a place to be seen with other sites which are like theirs.

Ask yourself what you would be willing to pay if the shoe were on the other foot, and what you would expect to receive for your money. Try to leave the PR thing out of the formula.

PR is certainly something to look at, the higher the PR the more the vote "counts", to some degree (relevancy is as, or more important, than PR though).

When it comes to directories, PR is my main concern. Expecting traffic from a directory is alittle nieve.

PR is important (For Now). Agreed! But who knows how long that will continue to be the case? I just don't believe that PR says everything about any site, directory, or whatever.

Looking past PR may open up all kinds of new thoughts and methods for getting to the top or middle ranking... :D That's the only reason I say take PR out of the formula.

I don't even look at pr, I'll look at alexa traffic (helps gauge if the site is heavily visited or not) then take a look at wether or not it's indexed and it's number of backlinks.

Oh and I'll have to like the site to list it.

I prefer "trust" to PR. If the page is PR4, but has footer links to "Cheap Viagra" sites, I don't submit. I'd prefer a "trustworthy" PR1 to that.

People who submit to directories look for pr specially for paid submission.
However if the price is right you can receive paid submission to pr0 pages, I have a directory pr5 with pr0 categories and I'm receiving paid submissions.
