Do people just not buy Windows?

I see quite a lot of Linux VPS providers, but not a lot of Windows providers, why is that? Do people not buy Windows VPSs?

    Also, I only know of...
    Cirtix Server
    Virtuozzo

What other windows virtualization software are there?

    Thanks,
    IT

The reason there aren't many is because Windows is unreliable as a server and most people prefer Linux because it is more reliable. The only reason you need Windows is if you have ASP.

So there's not really a market for 'em? Would I be wasting my time to start offering Windows, or should I go just for Linux(I know both very very well).

Even knowing nothing about each of the systems, I would always buy Linux. I suppose that speaks volumes for the reputation of Windows servers.

Windows is so vulnerable, and the only aspect one would go for windows hosting if he want to use ASP and SQL.

I make extensive use of virtualization and cloud computing technologies for consolidation, outsourced testing, distributed development, etc. and it's all on the Windows platform. No issues to date. I would be interested in "real-world" cases from the members that "think" Linux is best. Do you have experience with the technologies or just the same biased responses regarding Windows and Linux?

This is due to many reason such as many script can be run under unix/linux system but not on windows.
Some more, windows system is costing higher $$$ and not very secure compare to linux.

security is a factor. we could have the argument about perception vs reality but windows has generally had a poor track record in this regard and unix has historically been seen as more secure.

I have a windows VP on a server and it is simply because my coders are ASP trained. That is the only single reason I have it. Once it is running it is fine, its just more difficult to configure. It seems to load a bit smoother. The main problems always I seem to get are always database related
