Do people donate to software projects?

    I've never tried to get donations, but has anyone had any success with them?

    Yep! people do donate. Offer them something in return and you may get donations. High PR pages do get donations as they provide link love.

    I like when they say something like "love this software buy me a beer" or something to that effect. It makes me feel like theres a real person there working hard like myself and not some big company.
