I think links - paid or free - from a related site always count towards your SEO efforts.

google is always against paid links but there ia no way for google to detect those paid links so you can buy links from related sites and don't worry

Buying links is against Googles policy however this is not to mean that people don't do it. Yes in many instances it can be difficult for Google to determine whether the link has bee purchased or not. However there are some sites (many that offer links for sale on here) that I am sure will get caught at some point in the near future so be careful when chossing where you want your link to go. Some dead giveaways are: -

    * A link on a completely unrelated site
    * Lots of random links at the bottom of the site
    * A mixture of completely unrelated links

As I said these are just a couple of ways.

    Thanks

Agreed. Google has been extremely clear that they are not happy with the entire link buying situation... That being said, it is kinda hard for them to know with 100% certainly which links are paid...

From what I've researched, they are really targeting the big link sellers (such as Text Ad Links) and the such.

Google can do nothing about this issue. Paid links work and i can guarantee it. All my clients are getting positive results and they are ranking higher in Google. The reason for Google being unhappy is that many new websites are progressing at a higher speed these days. A bit more than natural looking. But if you want to progress then keep building quality links. If you don't have time, then you can always buy.

Don't listen to Google. They recently say they won't update PR and we got a PR update on the 31st of Dec. There has to be an update always. Or Google will die.

These things like "officials from Google saying this or that" makes me laugh sometimes. Don't believe them. Keep working hard on SEO and you will flourish.

    Kind regards,
    Jim

Without a doubt paid links work, but you will be taking a risk. You will have to judge for yourself if the risk is worth it to you. If your paid links ever become discovered, your website could be in a world of hurt.

Google have crawl robot/script to check internal link, external link, cache, index etc. But can't check our paid link or not (no script to find paid link)..:)

    Well, yes, and no...

If you buy a paid link directly from a website owner/webmaster you will probably be OK.

However, if you attempt to acquire paid links through brokers, many of them do, in fact, utilize scripts that can easily be uncovered.

Lots of link brokers use scripts that leave a footprint that could quite easily be detected by a search engine spider.

It could definitely be a situation that backfires - big time!
