I've had a Yahoo account for 8 years. Paid account. Last week I got an error message; Unusual Account Activity. Contacted support, got nowhere, form letters, form responses, tech support from India. Nada. 3 days go by, account still doesn't work, support still sends support responses. Finally a random support person said to delete all my e-mails and it might fix the problem. So because I want it work I go through and delete them all and what do you know, it works. Support still has not contacted me, no contact from anyone really. I'm ditching Yahoo now, I can't believe the awful support I got on a paid account. Horrible. I can see why Google is dominating now.
I know that a lot of people are having trouble with Yahoo email and have been for a few weeks. A lot of emails are being returned to people who send to a yahoo address as undeliverable. Also a lot of emails sent from a Yahoo account are just disappearing. I know several people who use Yahoo and all of them have been having these problems. Also I hosted one of my first sites with Yahoo hosting (over 3 years ago) -the worst service and support I have EVER seen.
I'm with BT as my ISP, and they use BT Yahoo mail accounts - I've had nothing but trouble with it recently, and the SMTP server doesn't seem to work half the time. Thankfully I use my site email and mail servers for most stuff. I feel sorry for non-webmasters who are stuck with them though.
the last month or so, I've seen a HUGE increase in spam in my yahoo inbox. I've noticed this before, they go through periods of heavy spam for a week or so, and then they learn to control it, but this time, it just isn't ending. And, to make matters worse, I'm finding legitimate emails in my spam folder. Guess it's time to start using my gmail account
I don't have any problem with yahoo mail (free account). However, I still prefer gmail because of speed. Yahoo mail is slower than gmail
IN new zealand. Ever since yahoo joined forces with the worst isp in NZ (Xtra voted NZ worst ISP FYI) and yet also one of the biggest. It has been nothing but trouble for people accessing emails. Half the time just locking the computer or not being able to access it at all. Especially when trying to access web mail. And then using it through outlook it is just f-ing awful and half the time just times out while trying to retrieve or send.
So many services to pick, you should atleast find one that has some good support, incase something does go wrong.
I use yahoo for about 8 years now, the support is excellent so far. . . .free account though . they usually respond in 24 hrs and send in a survey to comfirm everything is okie. One time I had a downtime problem, I contacted support and when i got their stupid copy/paste answer I sent them a mail telling them not to answer crappy . . .they called me up the next day! Yahoooooo. . . . .
For years yahoo has always had problems with their server. I have been using Yahoo's free e-mail account since 1998, and have more problems in the past than the last 5 years where I had no problems. I have also been using their paid account since 2005, and have had no problems so far.
Yeah paid yahoo is pretty good over the average "free" yahoo account, I knew someone that had and they were prettty pretty satisfied. Overall though blackgeneral is correcto, gmail is the way to go!
