I installed it last night on my main computer. Wasn't really very impressed, not only because it displays pages differently (IE has such a good tradition of that!) but also because it looks the same which very few changes. I've had the emulator on though and that does correct my page problems. But agree with thread starter - don't waste your time downloading.
Haha guys it's funny, my friend just told me that ie8 released and I got to this forum. And the first thread caught my eye was this
Looks like a little bit over 53% use IE in one form or another so as a web developer you need to check out your site in IE if you like it or not. This forum looks fine in IE8 but it sure f-up Google maps.
As a web designer, I think it's important to install whatever most of your site's visitors are using. This way, you can get an understanding of what they're seeing.
I have installed it an hour back... seems like it has got a few bugs... but its IE 7 mode is working properly.....
Can't help myself. I just love the ease of IE's nalcklists, rstricted sites, and whitelists with only a couple of clicks. Since IE7, they've been slow because the browser checks and rechecks a site before loading it.. I recently tried a free AV and slowed all my browsers to 28k! I use Opera,Safari,FF and IE.
I'm using IE6 and FF... for some sites that are made for IE aren't good looking in other browsers... that's why I have to stick with IE... else I'd have thrown IE .... anyways if Google doesn't bid soon ...i'm going to take over Microsoft. Starting the bid in $1
Why do that? IE Tabs: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419 Click an icon in Firefox and view the site using Explorer engine, click the icon again and it reloads back in Firefox. You can also set sites to permanently use the Explorer engine such as Windows Update etc. Also Useragent switcher: http://chrispederick.com/work/user-agent-switcher/ Change your useragent to any browser, google, yahoo etc.
Something gave me a chuckle.... for those who do have IE8, try and goto the windows update site... it doesn't allow it (unless you have the IE7 emulator on) instead you get a rather funny message;
It looks good on my Virtual PC.....but hey, I don't really use it for much except testing..... I'll continue to play around with it for awhile.
