I'm getting submissions from people who aren't including their deep links - even though they've paid for them. Do people really understand the benefits of deep links or are they just being lazy? Most people in these forums understand deep links so this poll is aimed at submissions you get from outside of DP.
Being a paid directory (www.directorymix.com) either option Featured, or Regular offer deep links, I did have 1 person e-mail me before submitting e-mail me to ask what deep links were.
I've had encountered the same on all my directories. They did not know what deeplinks are so I listed it myself and send them the PM that I added it. They paid for it so they deserve it. The response was Thank You and they submitted more.
i occasionally get submissions without deeplinks but i just add the links for them. I recently had 2 featured links that where paid for with NO description and NO deeplinks and they where for a major UK insurance company.
I have received some submissions yesterday --don't know from where --but I guess most normal submitters do not have idea of what deep links are.
Perhaps this is because the terminology is confusing. We all know what "deep links" are, but not everyone is a directory or SEO geek. It might be a good idea to link to a short explanation, with examples, so there's no confusion.
there are some submission with empty deep link, also I got one submission which contain different url on the deep link.
I don't think it's that, my guess is about 99.999999% of these people are paid submitters with a revolving prewritten description list and don't care.
Its 1 of 2 things... 1. They dont know or understand how... or 2. They are to lazy....... Ive noticed that only about half use this option and i dont understand why anyone wouldnt spend the extra couple seconds to help thier sites. thx malcolm
No we don't. It would be great if someone reading this thread would do exactly that.....maybe you? I'd like to understand the definition and benefit. I readily admit that I don't know. -boxer126

Sure. http://www.example.com - not a deeplink http://www.example.com/directory/ - a deeplink http://www.example.com/page.htm - a deeplink http://blog.example.com - a subdomain. Some directory owners will also consider subdomains to be within the category of deeplinks. The advantages of having deeplinks listed, for the webmaster, are a more even spread of PR across their site, and greater prominence given to inner pages, which are usually more targetted to a certain keyword or phrase, and more content-rich.
i have both non-DP submitters getting deep-links and not getting deep-links. I think that there are some who do not understand while others who are very experienced, understand the full concept of deep-links. I guess one of the reasons why ppl don't fully understand yet is also the precise measurable impact on the results as it is quite difficult to compare.
Hehe True --I received a submission today from a very cunning submitter --who used the subpage on main link and the main URL with deeplinks. I didn't change it in appreciation of his intelligence of how to better use the Deeplinks Mod
