I have recently developed a few widgets for my members to add to their myspace & Facebook profiles, figuring i could gain some traffic from them. i noticed google is showing the links from their profiles as inbound links, but do the carry any kind of PR wieght ?
yes it will not be much for a few users because there usually are a thousand links on a facebook page, but if you can get 1000 users to use you widget it will be wonderful!
Myspace links have no value in SEO because every link is ran through their msplinks.com site before getting to it's destination. Pretty sure that facebook does something similar as well so I would say no! These links will not help with search engine rankings at all! But if you are getting traffic through these sites then it may be worth it!
You will recive more traffic. But as myspace dont use your direct link (they cover it) it is no help to SEO
those two are good for direct traffic and ways to generate a buzz but not much else as far as seo goes
Like Yahoo answers, they are great for getting traffic, but carry no SEO value as they are nofollow links.
myspace is useless, all links are put through this weird redirector msplinks.com that encodes the url and redirects it - so all links to external sites is useless unfortunately. Facebook most links are hidden in private sections and not shown to Google - other sites it varies, the ones that show the actual full profile usually do carry weight - but it's kinda rare to get those ones.
As seopositions said; myspace links do not carry any weight because they are redirected through msplinks.com. Facebook links however do carry weight, run your rss feed on your profile and grab some nice backlinks.
I just joined myspace and added few friends. I'm looking traffic alone from this site. Myspace, facebook and friendster is my first 3 choice. Any other network that is worth for now?
