Do multiple websites affect earnings?

I was thinking of adding a new site to my adsense account using another channel. The question I have is, if site 1 gets a CTR of XX.X% but the new site 2 gets only a .X%, it will lower the average CTR but will that have an effect on how much site 1 would have earned (if not adding site 2) maintaining its good CTR or not?

    Thanks.

At least for me this has happened. I have many sites and working on the lower performing sites has had an overall improvement. One would think that they would limit it to channels, but that does not seem to be the case for me.

Maybe I'm missing something huge. But the CTR is just an average isn't it? Does adsense serve up the worst paying ads to the worst performing websites or something then?

Otherwise I couldn't imagine it effecting things. A click is worth what it's worth.

Why do you think that would decrease your earnings?

You get paid for clicks, not CTR averages.

Thank you for the voice of reason. For a second when more than one person started discussing the impact of ctr on income, I became concerned.

Seeing as how commision percentages are not disclosed, it is certainly a valid argument.

I don't think its that much of a stretch to propose that your commision percentage rises as your CTR rises.

It would be the same principle behind being able to gain the top AdWords spot without bidding the most money.

If that theory held any water then it would mean that using the revenue sharing here could actually cost you money due to the low CTR compared to a non forum site.

It doesn't seem like that could be the case but with Google not disclosing commision rates, they must fluctuate. Whether CTR is in that equation is anybodys guess.
