Do multiple outbound links to same location hurt your SEO?

I am starting to fill my credit card site with articles. I have one that promotes a specific card, so I quickly threw in several text links to the card offer's squeeze page *same url* with rel="NOFOLLOW" attached to 'em.

I'm wondering if this can hurt my onpage SEO at all?

Any feedback on changes i could make to the template for better SEO (not having to pertain to this article) would be appreciated.

When you say multiple links to the same page are you talking 2 links or 20?

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Google only counts one link in the instance that there are more than one going to the same page, not sure however if having more than one will be seen by Google as a negative thing or not.

From a user prospective, to many links all going to the same page will look spammy so i would possibly say a bad thing from that point of view.

The number and value of the links in - the number and value of the links out = (in VERY rough terms) the page's page rank and the page rank is one part of the equation as to where your website comes in the serps. So - in very rough terms - each outbound link decreases the value of the inbound links - UNLESS is is to a high ranking relevant website in which case some people say it is a good thing, but maybe not on your home page?

As long as the links are nofollow you should be fine but keep in mind if you have alot of outbound do follow links your link juice will be diluted significantly and it will definitely have an adverse affect on your PR

Well, I figured out this the long way.

Yes, multiple outbound nofollow links (in this case, to the same page) will completely get you removed from the SERPs.

Now I get to try to have google re-crawl the page after removing my links, and make sure that I get ranked again.
