I read how msn gives traffic to certain types of sites like entertainment. Does msn gives good traffic to travel or travel related websites in the top 10?
I really never heard anything like that. MSN gives ok traffic to any site ranked in the first couple of results. But as for certain types of sites I doubt it. That would mean people that searched for entertainment most likely had MSN as their homepage. Which I guess could be true but I dont think any of that is.
Well sadly MSN sucks, I have a whole host of travel sites where I hold the top 2 positions and the traffic is 70% less than yahoo for the same terms... sorry but you have been fed a crock of shit. GOOGLE is the mother of all traffic
MSN was first to start sending traffic and its still where I get most referrals, though Yahoo is finally catching up... .
I am not and I have good positions as stated, but the fact of the matter is a top place on MSN is worth the bottom of page 1 on Yahoo and the top of page 3 on GOOGLE in my case which is for a selection of UK based travel sites.
Most of the above is true, traffic from MSN sucks compared to the same position in either Yahoo or Google, but... Nonetheless I'm making between $700-$1000 a month with my travel sites, purely on MSN traffic, so they are certainly not worthless!
My travel sites do almost better from msn rankings then yahoo, In fact I made some pretty good gains in yahoo the last couple of updates, and the traffic was disappointing.
I have a boating and RV websites. And MSN did a good job on giving me lot of visitors.I think travel is pretty similar to my sites. So I conclude that Yes,msn will give you good traffic.
This is a very interesting thread. I notice that I make less money from MSN visiters than Yahoo and reading shoe's blog about cents per unique The other enginge do far better for me, but may be I am not getting the best from MSN, may be it my mind set not the traffic. I do make alright money from my site, but I would love to make big money.
Im ranked #1 and #2 for a 7000 OVT keyword. I get about 5 uniques a day from MSN. I'm sure that spot in google is worth 500+ a day.
I really don't trust the Overture or Wordtracker results at all... Am ranking either 1st or 2nd in MSN for a few keywords that are searched between 4.000 and 12.000 per day and I only receive about 10-20 visitors a day from them. Am ranking 1st for many other keywords that are supposed to be searched for by 40-100 people a day and receive between 20-80 visitors a day from MSN. Too weird...
