Just curious, do moderators dislike users using the Report Post button for spammers etc?

No, we encourage memebers to report posts that violate the rules. 9 times out of 10 it's not reported it won't get dealt with.

There is a saying here in the states, "It takes a village ..." In our case takes it takes all our members working together to help keep DP the place we each want it to be. Keep the reports coming. You are our eyes and ears.

I have to agree with Smyrl.

And it works when reporting spammers or threads in the wrong cats. It may take a few minutes or a few hours. But the DP Mods are pretty good at responding. Even in pm's. They are vigilant and I am sure appreciate the heads up. Especially since how big DP forum is with so many users.

All the mods, Smyrl, CrazyRob, Rubeina and the others are doing an excellent job. And I am sure can do a better job if we as DP users help them out.

Okies no problems, thanks for the info just wanted to make sure. I reported a spammer earlier, ie new member with a dozen identical posts all advertising a site and nothing to do with the forum section.

Actually i've done this 3 times in my time here, and my only 3 infraction were within an hour of doing so each time.. So i didn't know if i come up on a "Don't annoy us list".

Must just be coincidence, i genuinely try and help rather then upset people.

Yes it was dealt with quickly, and i cerainly agree they do an excellent job keeping things running 100%.

Check your infractions for a mistake. In my case, I think that they actually got the username wrong and gave me the infraction instead of the spammer. I made a post about it in the infractions sticky and it was reversed in a few hours.

I wouldn't think so they would disable it if they didn't like it.

Nah it's mine... All mine i tell ya :D

I got a bid on a domain via PM, posted it to the thread but my other post was 6 1/2 hours old and i could of technically edited it.

I'm not concerned with the infraction, if i deserve one i'll accept it. I just wanted to make sure hitting the report button wasn't causing more annoyance then good.

That's true, but after i reported it another user posted and said he reported it... And who knows maybe another 30 members after that.. See what i mean about possibly being annoying?

Good Question SweetFunny! I always wondered this myself.

I would guess that if they had 30 reports on the same post they would deal with that one first. It would seem like they probably have a system that shows which posts have been reported and how many reports on each one to know which ones to deal with first. If not, they should.

The normal vB sends the report via email, however with Shawn being an ol 6510 master he's probably got it rigged to post a new thread to a private forum, and each additional report adds a post to that thread.

    Good guess or no? :D

I think the report button is there for us to help the moderators. And I've used it a couple of times myself. Haven't received any 'dislikes' from any of the mods :p lol

Infractions for reporting a bad post? Nono, I guess there was something else you recieved them for. I've even received greens from mods for reporting bad posts. :)

So, if all the members would go on strike from reporting but not from posting, what will you all do :confusing:

Either expell you for proposing the idea or elevate you as a mod and ask you to read each and every post and take action. :)

You would find a lot of misplaced thread, hijack abounding, lots more spam, etc. Lets not even think of such chaos. :D

Well they always like reporting from DP people but some members now made wrong report and caused infraction or other. But overall DP team always like Reporting.

I dont think Mods dislike bad post reporting, If it was the case I'd have been banned for life long time ago. :)
