Do Links Make a Difference?

    Hey Guys,

I asked this on an Adsense forum, but didn't get a really
good answer, so I thought I'd bring it over to old faithful:
    Digital Point Forums. ;)

Anyways, I had a question regarding back links and
    Adsense earnings.

I just recently got back into Technorati tags. As soon as I
started tagging my posts, my earnings jumped from avg. 1
dollar to 3 dollars. And then On Thursday of last week, I
was smacked with my very first 5.19 dollar day in about 3
    years.

I was wondering. Are links coming back from sites such as
Technorati, Digg, and so on giving a site more of an
"Authority" look in Google's eyes? Therefore, making them
seem more apt to put in big ads?

Just wondering if this is a theory at all. Thanks for any
    help!

Oh, and PS: No, I'm not getting anymore clicks than usual,
maybe a couple more, but not enough to make a 4 dollar
    difference.
