I am just curious, does links dies off over time? I slowed down on link building, and inbounding links goes from 5500+ down to 4100 in the last 3 months in Google Webmaster Tool. That doesn't seem right. I don't have more than 30 links (article submission) on any site, so it's not like 30% of sites dies off, and I have been adding links steadily, but just at a lower rate. Do old links dies off? I thought aged links is suppose to be the best type.
Some webpages either get closed as they don't get renewed, or they get penalized and thus are removed from the Google Index. Your #s do seem a little large in a decrease, but I am new to the industry, so I could be wrong!
yes, some links can vanish over time. when you place a link on a page, that page might get crawled by search engine giving you a backlink but over time, the page where your link is on may move to inner pages and search engines may not find that page anymore. thats why link building is a continuous process. once you secure your ranking, you will still need to do occasional link building to maintain that ranking. while you are relaxing, your competitors are not sleeping and building links
Yes you will definatly lose some links over time. Some sites shutdown or do away with pages, others will be deep inside sites and will not get crawled anymore.
Yes links will die off. Your link may be removed from certain sites..or the site you get links from may no longer exist. There could be plenty of reasons.
Yes link pages can be removed from the search engines, can be closed by the owner, can get banned by search engines, getting the backlink to be no longer counted by the search engines
its certain that links do die off! no doubt about it!! u should be keep building links all the time even while your site has attained a good position.. SEO is a constant process so you need to be over it all the time!!
