Do links count if the links page is not indexed in Google

I keep getting links request from pages that are not indexed(google toolbar is grey). I checked out these pages and they dont have any "nofollow" codes anywhere on their site. My question is would links coming out of these pages count in Google or any other SE?

 

Site that has not been indexed could not be count as backlinks. But sooner or later it will be indexed. Is the site new?

 

They are either blacklisted, or as hersheys said.

 

These sites arent new. Their category links page are index, but not the page where my link will be coming from. So i guess I will be taking a chance that it might be index in the future. Thanks for your help.

 

If the pages are deep within the site structure they may never get indexed.

 

check also the robots.txt file, if are linked from home page through JS links or the noindex meta tag on that page

 

You may find their links page in not linked to internaly from the homepage and as such will never get indexed and would be worthless trading links with them.

try and find link partners with at least pr1 link pages.

 

In Google, your site is not index, therefore, it does not count backlinks.
