from what i can tell, they do not work that great... I do not like giving credit where credit is not due...so here it is.. I signed up to a link exchange directory about a week ago...so far I have 50 link backs...as of today, i still see no indexing of any of these link backs... I made a post on a forum yesterday, and as of today, that post has already been indexed and found... so far, it would look like the link directory is getting the publicity...as i see nothing on search engines concerning these link backs, but a post made just yesterday is already indexed. any comments on this? This is for reciprocal links, not one way links.
In order for your backlinks will be indexed you should link back your site with the same keywords for your site in order for you to be indexed. For example, your site is about internet marketing you should post your link with the same keywords so that it will be indexed.
are these directories new? if so, they probably are not getting indexed as often as an active forum does. are the links no follow by any chance?
I found some of my sites got listed immediately, and some took ages. I'm not quite sure how that works as i was back linking them all...
I've never had any issues with backlinks... i tested them by adding one of my sites to directories, and carried on with this over the course of a month or so, and i got a boost in PR in the next update, try directory submissions
If you are engaging in link exchanging programs...then make sure first that it is not banned or penalized by google in any way. Otherwise you are not going to benefit with it in anyway..
The more people like you, that see internet marketing as a fast solution ad keep looking at: WHEN my links are going to get indexed.... the better for all of us... more money to make Keep counting links for exchange programs. and yep.. backlinks don't work. LMAO
Here is an article that was just written to help with this question Simple and Easy Ways to Build Quality Back Links for Any Site
I would agree with blackhat, you need to make sure the link exchange hasn't been blacklisted, also you'll find that one way links make a bigger difference to your rankings than reciprocal links.
thanks every one..i will investigate a bit more... keywords should not matter, as i posted on a forum the other day with my link in the sig and it showed up the next day, so if my link is on other domains, then they should show up also, unless google has banned the link exchange site or looks down heavy on link sites and decides not to index those pages...i just ran a ban check, the link domain does not appear to be banned...but it does make sense if these link sites have no weight as the forum i posted on is fairly popular....and no, I do not approve mass links, and only approve a few/day, and others that make no sense are denied..so I am not a link hore after every little link, I do have some dignity
depends on where the one way link come from,if that is come from respected networks,I believe everything is just fine to get a link back and about the link at forum I agree with that ,the technique is approved really useful
Getting indexed is easy. Getting on the front page is the hard part. Go to yahoo, and do a link:http://www.websiteaddressthat'ssupopsedtogohere.com, on the first link on the first page. That will tell you the number backlinks the number one website has. If it's more than 250, you're going to have a hard time getting on the front page. Pick a different keyword in your website to index.
Adding to many backlink at the same time will cause searching engine to be suspicious hence it will not be good.
