Do keywords really matter in your website name?

My web page titles have the high searched for keywords as the actual title so I was wondering if the homepage address really needed to also have the keywords within the address? Why is that so?

Having your main keyword that you're targeting in the domain name does help your Google rankings, just make sure you combine it with on site seo and backlinking.

    Hello,

Having your keywords in your domain does help, but it is not going to make too much of a differenc. However on page optimization will. I suggest checking your title, meta and alt tags and optimizing them. Then I would take a look a your internal links and see if you can optimize them as well.

    Good Luck,
    Nick

    Well, it helps.

But it 'only' helps if you other necessary ingredients put on your website needed to rank well.
Having only keyword in domain will show you no where in front pages of Google specially.

Can we frame this and give it a trophy as the daftest thing ever post on DP? There's stiff competition I know, but this is award winning

The "homepage address" is all important, that's why domain names like Slimming.com go for over a million dollars!

A domain name keyword will be in every search for Google as it counts the URL in with the search.

Google random words like "cheese" and you'll see Cheese.com is tops!

Absolutely Yes. It does not guarantee you will rank for the terms, but gives you a huge advantage when attempting to rank for any words that are present in the domain. I think the more hyphens you have the more diluted the power of the words in the domain become. Just like a title, the shorter the domain, the more powerful the terms within it.

Having your keyword(s) in your domain name is always helpful in ranking for those keywords.

Yes it does. Putting your target keywords in your title tag is a big factor in getting a good ranking. But there are other things that need to be considered like relevancy of content and site structure.
