Do invisible links have any value to google?

I exchange links with a few people but they make my link the same color as the background color of the page, will I get any penalty for that and/or does pr still get passed?

your site will not get a penalty, but i believe it wont get any juice from that link.

The people who are doing this might get penalise, text sam color as background is an old seo method nowadays dislike by search engines.

google can penalize your site if you have hidden backlinks.

Seconded. But most importantly, you shouldn't be doing link trades with those kind of sneaky people

I think both sites will get penalized, yours and your link publishers.

Well, the only site that will be penalize is the site that make the text link invisible. This is an old strategy that can easily caught by search engines.

i disagree that the site which was linked TO will get punished for this.

If that was the case everyone would start creating "bad sites" and place their competitors link there. You cant be punished for people linking to you.

It may happen ONLY if google starts to publish the list of the sites that you are being linked from exactly and accurately. Other than that they cant hold you responsible for where your sites link appears.

Linking to sites with hidden links (and especially exchanging links with them) won't do you any good. I would opt out of that if I were you.

definitely devalued. but could be penalized as well.. but I definitely think it's no good, because search engines can actually detect your text color and background color because of those black link building rules.

I recommend not to use it at all.

I don't think that you will be penalized for this...
but the websites who have done this will surely be,it's a black hat technique.
But yes you should not do link exchange, specially with such websites which do Black Hat techniques.
Remove there link from your Website ASAP.

You will get full pagerank and credit for the passed anchor text, unless someone reports their page to google. If they get reported, they may be removed from google and/or penalties, but you wouldn't (although after they receive penalties that could affect the quality of the link they pass to you).

You and their site can be penalized. I would request you have the link removed from the site. That is an official black hat maneuver.

I think you will not get anything from that link placed like that. So better not to have.

Links must be visible and click able (Do follow) only then you will get something from that links.

One more thing i like to mention do not depend too much on links only make your website informative and put some fresh content in it then surely you will not have to worry about back links.

    That would be useless, imo.
Better don't do it yourself and don't do link exchange with such people :)
