Do Interactive Sites work?

About 5 months ago I created a site providing content and templates for users to print and download.

It is in a very small niche and I am planning my next move.

    Two questions

    1) Do Interactive features work to pull visitors in? I am considering adding features to let users design their own templates, convert to PDF and print. Currently I have static templates that I design and make available to download.

    2) At what point do you know when it is time to pull the plug? I have been seeing steady traffic increases from social bookmarks and search engines but I think there might not be enough eyeballs out there for my topic. My goal is to recover hosting costs (~$100) by years end through ad sense. I have made a few bucks, but have a long way to go.

This is my first attempt at marketing sites for profit. I am in a very small niche and need to decide if I should invest my time to add the interactive feature or move onto other site ideas.

    Thoughts?

your server costs are fairly low, $100 is next to nothing so you should have no problem recovering your cost with adsense. I'm not sure what kind of templates you're offering. If you're doing business related templates team up with temp agencies. Call them time savers for office work and you have a little niche there.
