I see a lot of talk about Magneto, but my client seems to like Volusion. Volusion seems faster to set up and get running and will not have the dev costs of something like Magneto. The draw back is that Volusion themes do not seem to be editable. Am I right? Am I wrong? Some background, My client has a successful business selling handmade items on Etsy, is ready to grown and can likely sell several hundred units a month. Not a lot of up front resources so cost is a huge factor. Im looking for some input since I probably do not know what Im talking about ( Im a ppc guy
Magento is best option to go with. You better know there are 3 version of Magento available. You can go with comunity version which is free. Magento is robust in every aspect than other existing shopping cart system. There are many free themes available. I important think I would like to recommend is use Porperhost's hosting services. If your client likes Volusion, I would look into that option and do a comparison against Magento. My understanding is that Volusion does have several themes and you can edit them.
I used BigCommerce, VirtueMart, Volusion, Magento and openCart. I discovered that BigCommerce Magento and Volusion to be the best. Before choosing a purchasing wagon solution application you need to be conscious of your goals and company needs. If you are developing the next Amazon or EBay then I would recommend you to develop your own CMS. This needs lot of your energy and energy, attempt and cash. If you want to develop a powerful business stage internet company then I would recommend you to go with Magento or BigCommerce. Magento is no cost but needs lot of growth attempt and servicing. While on the other Bigcommerce is simple to use but not as personalized as Magento. You can select your own strategy with Bigcommerce based on your company needs
