Hi folks, I have a blog which is getting about 8000 uniques everyday, and a forum which is on a subdomain but it's very recent so it has only 50 uniques a day. I've got suspended for high CPU usage. I disabled some Wordpress plugins and everything seems to be fine now. But, do I really need a VPS? Becasue i don't want to get suspended again
Optimize what you can, if you still get suspended for excessive CPU usage it's time for a VPS (or a maybe new hosting company, not all shared give you the same CPU)
That's a lot of traffic. I suggest you get a VPS so you have room to grow even more. Here's a list of affordable managed vps plans: http://www.hostingdiary.com/2007/09/best-vps-hostin.html Andrew
I donot think VPS has its own CPU and Memory. a virtual dedicated server offers many of the capabilities and features of dedicated servers, including administrator (root) access and dedicated IP addresses, but at a much lower price. Users share a server, but because each virtual dedicated server is effectively isolated from other accounts, the user has full control over the server space. If your website occupy too much CPU. You need to check whether it is being hackered or some high CPU exhausted scripts are/is running on your websites.
True. If your downtime is too high and unbearable, consider upgrading or at least moving. Your side maybe hosted in the company's old hardware or managed by their less capable team.
