It doesn't matter what to use. The important thing is to stick with 1.

Or use a redirect if you have already used both.

When leaving links you should hyper link

    ex:
    <a href"http://www.sitename.com">Keyword w00t!</a>
    Code (markup):
try to stick to one or the other, I would stick to the whole http://www.

I agree with others that you need to stick to one way or the other. The reason most use www is because there are many casual Internet users that think that you have to use the www before any site. When linking it makes no difference which one you use as long as you stick with the same one because your backlinks will be affected if you switch between the two.

I think that the the WWW is the best for no other reason then vBulletin likes it better.

    Case in point...
vB automatically ads linkage to the url with the WWW attached.

this includes forums.digitalpoint.com as bad, IMHO

If every link counts, do what you can do make every link, a link.

no, i am not talking about automatic link creations.

actually when we do the same thing with and without www, the search results differs.

It's a matter of personal choice. There's a lot of people against www. though, and these people want it obsolete, and that's not really a bad thing at all. It's pretty useless.

I don't even write http:// sometimes, I just type the website name in the URL bar and bam, I'm there :)
