Hi, I run a small community, and our pagerank hasn't improved much over the year, I wanted to optimize my site for Seo so do you think vbSeo is going to help me dramatically improve.. I dont know much about seo thats why wanting to use something very simple yet effective.. Any one here, who doesn't work for vbseo and can give me some feedback how easy is it to use, and if its any good?
First of all. The toolbar PageRank is a terrible way to measure your level of SEO. Measure your traffic, rankings, and most importantly, your inbound links. In regards to your main question, I believe vBulletin is starting to integrate more SEO options into the forum, but I don't know exactly, as I don't use vBulletin.
vbseo is not going to make a huge difference in your pagerank. it probably wont move it at all.....the only way to up your pagerank is by creating backlinks for your site
You see I am trying to get more activity, more people join up my forums etc, right now we have around 1000 members (not spammers as I have the vbulletin antispam mod installed) and only about 5 - 7 people are active regularly... when you say create back links do you mean yahoo answers and have your sites link on your signature in various forums? need some good advice ...
I like vbseo but it isn't for the page rank, which is based on backlinks anyways. You can always try vbulletin 4 with the "SEO" url's as it is, and see how that goes. Spend your money on marketing than add vbseo later if you have some extra cash.
vBSEO isn't necessary when it comes down to it. Search engines are terribly good at spidering already. We've never used it here, nor have we ever messed with sitemaps and Google spiders us (and ranks us) just fine. Google [search=google]Do I need vbseo?[/search], and this thread is near the top, so that should tell you something...
If you want to buy a vBseo you just pm me with more information about your vbuletin and then i could to say if i have right vBseo!
i think huge sites like dp dont need vbseo, but those of us who dont know much coding do... but that was an excellent point made, thanks
I bought it because I do not like the tacky post urls... if it gives me some advantage in the future then great... if not, then I do not have to keep looking at my crappy urls... they are nice and neat now I have had it installed for 6 months now... I have yet to see it really make any difference.... and I am not rich yet as one vbseo client claims...
that sucks, I was really looking up to vb seo to do some wonders for me, what about the people here that say that it has worked for them? so maybe it only works for some? I am still willing to give it a try. did you buy yours from here? or vbseo's site? how much did you pay btw
If it work for others, doesn't mean it will work for you. SEO is more than just using a pretty URL. But if you have money to spend, just give it a go. - Dynashox -
I run a small community, and from what I saw, my pages are ranked based on how unique they are, and as someone mentioned, on how many backlinks there are. I doubt I will use vbSEO at all.
I agree that Vbseo is expensive, however it is a good program. We use it on our forum and I think it has made a difference. Also, the technical support with vbseo has been stellar thus far – the complete opposite of what you'd expect from anything with the word "vbulletin" attached to it. The URL rewriting features, relevant replacements and especially the XML sitemap generator are useful, and very impressive. It's a powerful program. Does it do anything you couldn't do for free using another program? I'm not sure. But what it does do is make getting started with an SEO strategy really, really painless, by combining an array of useful functions into a single (and generally quite intuitive) program.
I would invest the $150 into building better backlinks, or generating quality crawlable content as that is what really matters. SEO is very important, but the features that VB has already built in are enough.
