Yahoo is dead...... why waste your time with them... i just remember that in 1998 my company want to put their web site to be listed on yahoo...they (yahoo) asked for 4000 US$/month with 250.000 hits per week guarantee.... and because the company was in Indonesia, it had to be hosted on Yahoo singapore ...not Yahoo US... Better talk to GOOGLE....

I think what this person has said is absolutely true! There is no need for you to give $300 for getting added in the Yahoo directory. You can use that money for other techniques that can be much helpful. This is my opinion:)

If you have pages listed in Yahoo save the 300 and spend it on advertising elsewhere. The fee is for guaranteed review. Yahoo do not guarantee placement or inclusion for the fee, simply that they will review the site within (I think) 24 hours. This is great if you have a new site and are trying to get traffic but not if you are already listed.

I think if someone is already earning thousands of dollars a month then he can buy Yahoo listing for long term benefits you know.

It really depends. If you're making $1'000'000 a month online, $300 is going to feel like nothing. If you're making $1000 a month then you might want to think twice.

It's a solid link from a very reliable source, probably the most respected directory on the web for businesses. It will do your website's credibility no harm at all to be included.

If he is already making $1,000 per month then I can assure you
he don't need to have his backlink from Yahoo at all.

What has this got to do with submitting to the Yahoo! Directory??? The Yahoo! Directory is something totally different to the yahoo! search engine and index.

Yes $300 would buy you many high rank links from another service and would likely be more beneficial long term.

You don't have to submit to Yahoo directory to get listed in Yahoo. Content is king and if you do right social bookmarking then it is good!

The reality here is that NO ONE knows anything about what will happen to your site after you list it.
Here is what we do know:
    1. its expensive
    2. its a VERY good link

Nobody guarantees you anything about this link, because then it looks like a bribe. HOWEVER having an authority link to your site CAN do alot. Many people (almost everyone I know) gets higher SERP from this listing in Yahoo and Google. The Yahoo directory also USED to get traffic, but I really would count on that too much anymore, but you are getting a really good link. Some will benefit from this link more than others, so it is up to you to decide. Ya, many people on this board have some blog or soemthing and it doesn't make sense to them, and it may not make sense to everyone.
The breakdown is it comes down to $25 a month. If you are making a decent monthly income off the net and have 15k pages or whatever it is probably worth it to try and see if you make more than $25 a month from that link! One thing is almost for sure, if your competetors outranking you have a Yahoo directory listing and you don't (after doing all your other foundational SEO stuff), you can almost assume you need to cough up the money to steal their place in ranking and get the extra traffic.
If that directory listing did nothing, why would they have so many listings?

    EDIT:
IN FACT, here is a curious puzzle for you nay sayers out there...
A keyword I try very very hard to rank well for is a 3 word keyword that is pretty specific to my niche, it seperates the niche out really so it is a very competetive keyword. I currently rank #3 for this keyword, and still get quite a bit of traffi, although I think there is more to get from the higher positions.
on site explorer the #1 position is listed:
    DMOZ
    Yahoo Directory
    BOTW
He has a total of 208 listed backlinks with 88 indexed pages (although the site is pretty large I think)

My site shows 2,805 backlinks (10x the amount if my math is correct) and I have 829 indexed pages...
However, I only coughed up the dough for
    BOTW
we all know how tough DMOZ is, really that guys site is HORRIBLE and so not user friendly, but doesn't matter. He also has the Yahoo Directory link, plus the DMOZ is giving him Google directory link.
So, everyone says DMOZ is dead and Yahoo isn't worth it and the $300 can be spent on better stuff. So, who is willing to get me from #3 to #1 for $300?....
