I just added a subdomain store.site.com. I've done countless submissions for my own site. Since the store is a subdomain which I understand should be treated as a new domain -- I guess I should go down the path of submitting the store.site.com to all the directories. I just want to confirm and get the experts opinions before going forward. Suggestions on which are best -- altough plentiful on these forums is always appreciated. Thanks. Chris
Exactly as ServerUnion says. Also many directories will not accept additional submissions from same domain, especially as it is also not root and it is closely related to the original submission being it only the store and not an entirely different content/project.
Many directories don't permit subdomains to be submitted seperately, as they treat them as being the same site. Check the terms of each directory first before submitting a subdomain to a directory you're already listed in.
You see, I had a subdomain, and a normal domain. I was in third place, and some stupid members.aol.com person got in my place, and now I don't know where my site is! Can't track it, tried all this week, its not there. Also (this is on google) the very site that took over my rank is "LESS relevant and I don't believe it has 1 if any back links". I do know I need more back links to help ranking, but, not to exist on google! I stand by my statement until its resolved(statement: I HATE GOOGLE!) lol
I just modified my site to use the rel=no follow on all but 1 of my links to the subdomain. I think it's kind of silly that a penalty could exist, but didn't want to take the chance. Seriously thought, Google should realize that site.com is linking to store.site.com is just looking to promote their store. That being said, I changed every link -- text, navigation and now I'm going to fix my banners today.
I'm looking to avoid the "one site" or same site penalty and was advised by someone with much more knowledge than I...
