Recently I had taken up a copy writing job for a client. But, surprisingly, the Client asked me my passport number and my permanent address. Sounds strange or is this a norm in the copy writing business?
I did ask him the reason and was provided a reply that in order to provide the same in the 'contract' so that the details are accurate and upto the mark. But, I stated to him that the personal details would not be provided and he said that it's okay with him if those are not provided. So, it's fine now. Thanks for your comment Tony.
teamnirvana, I'm glad you told that guy no. There's no reason to ask for that info unless he was going to hire you as a formal contractor and needed it for taxes.
Right. Unless he hires you as a format contractor, you don't have to furnish these personal details. Be aware.
I think you can only give your passport number to a client who you know originally as someone trustworthy. This is only after you have dealt with him/her and that too you're coming to a conclusion that there has to be a new beginning in your relationship or some kind of a high. Else, if he is giving you a formal contract, you could just give the same when he is about to file returns if he asks you for it.
