I got a few sites, and have some small ones I wanna make. I know I can use one hosting account for more domains, but is it a good idea?

I have 4 small sites hosted on 1and1.
If you have more sites that have some more trafic i recomand you take dedicated host, is from 69$ /month

yea you can use just one hosting a/c as it might have the addon domain service where you can add your other domain and host..

Yeah, you can add as many as you want. Although I've heard that it might not be a good idea to have all your sites (if you have 50+ ) on one host...but not sure about that.

It's fine to host them on 1 hosting account.

Can I ask how you would set that up? I heard that it can be done, but not sure. Do you have to set up links in one of your domains?

It depends on your host. Some hosts allow it, some require a specific package. Lookup the details on your hosting plan, it should tell you how many domains you can host (usually 1, 5, 10, or unlimited are the common amounts).

If your plan allows it, then login to cPanel and look for the icon called "Addon Domains". Click on that and follow the directions (takes about 10 seconds total). Then you just need to change the DNS on your domain to point to the same server as your other domain, and it works. cPanel will do all the work for you, and tell you what folder in your file manager hosts the site.

It's often easier to manage a number of sites on 1 host as your not jumping around between different control panels with different providers to get things done.

You could have them all on one host provided your hosting plan offers for more than one domain. As Christian said, it could be 5,10 or unlimited.

Some people prefer to use different hosting accounts and divide their sites among them. One reason is to have them on different IP's. Another is to ensure that all sites attached to one person cannot be found out. If your '' smaller '' site has anything to do with warez or porn, ensures that your provider allows those kind of sites.

Finding a host which allows multiple domains is not tough, however if you intend to cross link these sites for any SEO purposes, people recommend having multiple IP addresses and finding a host which allows multiple IPs is the tough part. Most hosting companies either provide one, or offer more IPs but for a fee. Just make sure you look into this before you sign on.

Also managing multiple sites becomes a chore with some hosts due to the control panel version they use. I am with MediaTemple.net and quite satisfied with their propreitary control panel when it comes to managing multiple sites.
