Like the title says: I would like to build a simple informational website. I have some basic html-knowledge, but I don't have any experience with CMS? So what are the advantages of CMS? thanks
Using Wordpress I have found that A CMS comes in handy when you are likely to update your page on a regular basis. You simply write your content, it is automatically added to your site, with all the required links added and an RSS feed is generated. The real advantage though is the use of plugins that allow you to easily implement tasks such as embedding movies, generating a sitemap and anything else you can think. Also I have found WordPress to be very SEO friendly. The only downside is that without putting in a lot of effort in customizing all WordPress sites tend to have a particular look about them. If your just making a simple site I find it's better to design it just using HTML. If your keen to experiment download wampserver.com and try out WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and see what you like the best. WordPress is the easiest to get the hang of but you'll find that it can be quite limiting compared to the others.
you can use simple cms like (cms made simple) source : php size :7.05 Mb it have more module. you can check here http://cmsmadesimple.sf.net
Joomla is one of the best. Idea is that it can be setup in seconds. Then you enter information like you would MS word..... So the effort is in the content , not the code
basically you should see only one thing that whether you are going to update content frequently or not because a cms will help you if you are on first side other wise if site is small and not a lot of update is required then you must go for simple html pages and tweak each your page for SEO!
