Do I need a sitemap?

    Hi guys.
I'm trying to figure out whether an inclusion of a sitemap would be beneficial in increasing the visibility of my website. I've noticed that most of my competitors have sitemaps. Is there a way to include this file on an HTML page. I'm using Fortune3 as my website builder and a shopping cart.
Also, I have a few links on my homepage to a blog where I keep some useful info for my customers. The blog is a PR0. Can those links prevent my website from climbing the PR ladder?
    Thanks.

It helps the spiders follow your site the way you want. I have found that if you don't provide a sitemap Google may not index all your pages, at least nearly as fast as you'd like.

Sitemap will help no end, you can find loads of free sitemap editors online and even if you ask on here, just paste the html onto your site

    Hi,

a follow up to this, as saves opening a new thread,

If you have a html sitemap on your site is it still beneficial to have an xml sitemap and submitting it to google?

    Another thing about xml sitemaps,

If you have a site structure as mydomain.com , blog.mydomain.com, forum.mydomain.com, etc, is it better to have separate xml site maps in the root of every sub-domain, paying no mention to them in your root url directory sitemap? As having an xml sitemap of all of your site including these subdomains in the format of blog.mydomain.com etc in the root directory sitemap creates illegal and invalid url errors on Google sitemaps.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I suggest that submit your sitemaps in google sitemaps will help your site better get index in google. Google sitemaps is free you doesn't need to spend anything except your time why not try to use it.

The links is more important than sitemap. If you have no more than 100 pages, I think it's no need to host a sitemap file.

If the deeplinking ratio is 100% then I don't think you need a sitemap at all. And I would suggest increase your deeplinking ratio + internal linking percentage and forget about sitemap.
