Do I need a different host for each site?

First off, hello 1st post :) - I go on this forum alot to read the real helpful information, and now I decided to register.

I tried searching for this question but couldnt (too lazy to search through the 70+ pages  ) find anything.

I was reading that it's better to have multiple hosts for all your sites, and if you don't you could get banned from google adsense/google search spider? What are the advantages of having multiple hosts - Do you guys have multiple hosts/IP's? How does it all work, i'm not really clear?

    Thank you,
    _korg

As far as I know, ppl who have 10+ sites own a dedicated server to run most of the sites. but don't take my words as it can be wrong.

    Hi _korg,

I have never heard of such a thing.
    Where did you read this?
On the face of it, its hardly Googles business where you decide to host your sites.
    Thoughts anyone?

No, you don't need diffrent host for each site.

you can host you all sites on single host and google will not bann you unless you do anything against there terms and conditions but there is a lot of advantages to have website's on diffrent host and diffrent ip seo point of view

I've heard there are advantages of having sites on different c class servers and there's the thing about local rank as well. Both arguments are so full of holes (won't go into it now) that you'd have to think that it can't carry much weight, if any.

It certainly won't hurt on adsense. If anything they'd think you were more reliable if your sites were hosted together.

Too much like hard work to spread them all around. Impractical etc.

But if anyone knows better, let us know!

It would suck if you had to host all over the world :) Much easier to have them all in one place and admin everything on a handful of boxes.

Its really better to host all (or atleast most) of your sites in the same place. If you have a lot of sites and cannot fulfil the demand, go for dedicated hosting

I currently have 3 dedicated servers and 40 different IP addresses on different calss C IP blocks.

There are many reasons why you would have different IP addresses. I use them for SEO reasons and also if you want to show up in the google index for your country, you should have an ip from that country.

It is simpler to have all your websites under 1 hosting account. Easier to manage.
I have never heard you get banned from S.E this way. If so, there would probably be millions of websites banned already.

I think this issue only relates to interlinking between your own sites. If you have 20 sites, all linking to each other and all on the same IP, there is a chance that the PR does not pass from one site to another. Hence, lots of different IPs would enable you to interlink your sites more easily, if passing PR around is your goal.

I run a webhosting company and use extra space / bandwidth on some of my dedicated servers to run about 60 adsense sites :).

It's better to spread the hosting: if your host goes down, then you will NO revenue at all. If you spread the load, one host can go down but there will be other sites online generating revenue.

The most important benefit about having different host is like cianura mentioned.

It is important, when you link pages for getting more backlinks and better SEO. Linking pages with purpose to have better ranking on same server is rather bad idea than good.

Wow, thanks for all this info. That definatley takes a load off my back, I didnt want to have to buy a bunch of different hosting plans, imagine how much $$ that would be? I just started adsense yesterday ($0.2 WOO HOO!) and it seems pretty fun. I have 2 sites, one forum (yes, I know, forums suck for adsense, any tips?) and my newest project; a site for inventors. Right now the Inventors site, is just 'borrowed' information. I dont think i'll be adding that much to it. If you want to check it out, the link is in my signature, please give me some tips! :D

    Thanks
    KORG

Edit: Oops, I guess you need to have 10+ posts to get a signature. It's InventThis.org - No advertising intended, just want some tips
