I'm about to open a site - www.wiistop.com - and I'm going to have game profiles, reviews, a podcast, shop, etc. (you can see this all on the site) Anyways, do I need a CMS for this, or would doing everything by hand be best? I'm not really sure what route to take. Thanks for the input. I'll rep whoever gives me a decent answer.
you can do the same think with a cms and manual but cms will increase you speed. i suggest you to use joomla as your cms.
Well, I'd have to incorporate a template into a CMS. I think Joomla is MUCH too much for my project anyways.
If you want to incorporate a game profiles, reviews and a shop than Joomla is your way...i tell this from my experience.Good Luck!
Were it me I'd use WP Profiles would work well set up as static pages with links to any applicable reviews Reviews would work well as standard posts. Podcasts work well using a combination of plugins wpipodcatter podpress Simple shopping cart can be set up with WP e-commerce some of the etc... can be set up as Gallery = Gallery2 has built in WP integration Forums = BBPress integrated into WP install (the forum system that's used at wordpress.org) Spam = Akismet Joomla's commenting system is in a constant state of disrepair, but other than that it would work well also.
