Do I need a 301 redirect for index.html?

    Typically speaking, the index.html file is page that is directed when the url is entered. Just wondering if Google considers this as duplicate content in the same way that google looks at non-www urls and www urls as duplicate content. Just wondering if I should consider redirecting the url to the index.html

    Try to use this code for that problem.

    <link rel="canonical" href="your-domain-index-page" />

    I would personally suggest to use 301 redirect. This will help you to expand your site either. Their will be no confusion also in redirection.
