So are pyramid marketing scams like Amway and Mary Kay, door to door marketing like Vector, or 3AM get rich quick schemes like Carlton Sheets "Make money fast in Realty" -- or even the entire concept known as organized religion -- doesn't make them any less of a bunch of sleazeball scam artists preying on the fears and hopes of the ignorant. :p

Mostly I'm just pissed at the web being less useful to me as a user than it was a decade ago, and sites delivering the same content as a decade and a half ago being slower on my 25mbps broadband connection than they were 20 years ago on dialup with ZERO improvement in actual usability. Art faygelah PSD jockeys, template scam artists, people not qualified to be writing a single line of HTML, and idiotic code bloat frameworks mated to a "accessibility, what's that?" attitude mostly being to blame.

As I've said before, responsive layout is just the next logical step in accessible design after elastic semi-fluid layouts created with techniques like semantic markup and progressive enhancement; which if starting from the CONTENT should lead to a natural and automatic SEO and graceful degradation. It's why if you've been building with semantic markup, separation of presentation from content, and elastic semi-fluid design with proper media targets adding responsiveness is a non issue that should't take more than a K or two of CSS and maybe one or two extra DIV. (see www.ewiusb.com which needed few if any changes to the markup or existing CSS make it responsive when I did it six or seven years ago!)

Concepts lost on the mouth-breathing halfwits who sleaze together off the shelf parts any old way and blindly hope it turns into a successful website; the only way users end up putting up with such bloated slow loading painful to use crap being if the content is actually that damned good -- and if the content isn't that good, all the goofy graphics and gee ain't it neat scripttardery ends up little more than dumping a can of shellac on a pile. No matter how shiny it is after buffing it with beeswax and steel wool, it's still just bug **** on horse ****. It's why SO many websites are "epic fail" before they even start.

See how most of the dumbasses out there showing off their single digit IQ's by using garbage like bootcrap, blueprint, jQuery, etc now actually attack things like progressive enhancement -- but Joe forbid one responds in kind. Remember, we worship the Sun, but pray to Joe Pesci.

80 pounds of makeup on your art school skin,
80 points of I.Q. located within!

Great summary of most of the people with the giant pair of brass to call themselves "designers" when they don't know enough about HTML, CSS, accessibility or even emissive colourspace to be designing but two things right now for anyone.

... and I can't go outside -- I just got out of the hospital ICU Thursday (was admitted Tuesday morning) for another bout of seizures, heart problems mated to a nice 540 blood sugar. I'm pretty much bed-ridden right now -- though thanks to hospital food I've lost ten pounds and my sugars are now low 200's.

The two feet of snow over the past 12 hours isn't helping either.

Though I tell you that breath of fresh air coming out of the hospital after two days breathing "sick people air" was wonderful. :D

#1 Hey man, In all seriousness, I will pray for you, I will ask the lord to bring you back to health as fast as he can,
I understand how it is to be sick and stuck in bed, I have been three myself a few times and it sucks , mentally , emotionally and psychically, god bless you for even reaching out to us, even in your time of pain, that is selfless and appreciated by me,

#2 I agree with you 100% , I like to play devils advocate a lot and also the web is not what it used to be, I grew up and my mentor taught me how to write pascal when I was 8. Then my teens and girls, got me away from code , but when I was 30, I got online full time ( 12 years ago ) and started messing with all kinds of wordpress etc etc Some custom code, but after awhile it was hard to find good coders to work side by side, so as the rest of us do, we use themes sometimes because its faster .....not the best idea, but when you do not have an army of coders.....sometimes you do more with less....aka a theme, via wordpress.

#3 Feel free to inbox me if you need a friend, I would not mind talking to you more ;)

Hope you feel better man, I really do , God bless

The main reason why you make your website mobile friendly is for SEO purposes and convenience. Yes you can zoom in which parts you want to navigate in a non - mobile friendly website well guess what if you have mobile friendly website which most of them nowadays using responsive themes, you don't have to zoom in anything and it is less hassle.
Scrolling up down requires only your thumb where as zooming in requires a hand and 2 of your fingers

... and AGAIN someone making this ignorant nonsensical claim. Search engines don't have eyeballs -- they don't give a flying purple fish one damned way or another about your LAYOUT. Search Engines DO NOT SEE LAYOUT!!!

ANYONE claiming that responsive layout has ANYTHING to do with search doesn't know enough about either one to be flapping their gums on the subject!
